Walk-in showers

A walk-in shower opens up a small bathroom and is easier to get in and out of. We build them with properly waterproofed walls and floors, recessed niches for storage, and tile from classic white to large-format marble-look slabs.

Tub-to-shower conversions

If you rarely use the tub, converting it to a shower gains space and makes the bathroom easier to use. Replacing the tub enclosure needs a permit in Salinas, which we handle as part of the job.

What a bathroom remodel costs in the Salinas area

We do not quote a single price before seeing your bathroom, because the cost depends on how much changes:

  • Refresh. New vanity, fixtures, lighting and mirror in the same layout.
  • Shower or tub update. A new surround, walk-in shower or tub-to-shower conversion.
  • Full remodel. Everything down to the studs, often with fixtures moving to a new layout.

What drives the cost up

Moving plumbing fixtures, custom tile work, larger showers and glass, and older plumbing or wiring that has to meet current code once the walls are open.

What keeps the cost down

Keeping the toilet, sink and tub or shower in place, choosing stock vanities, and simpler tile layouts.

What your estimate includes

A written, itemized estimate with scope, materials, pricing and timeline. No hidden fees, no surprises.

How long a bathroom remodel takes

A fixture swap and a full gut remodel are very different jobs. Timing depends on the scope, on material lead times for tile, vanities and glass, and on the permit and inspections the City requires for tub, shower and plumbing changes. We give you a realistic schedule in writing, and we stick to it.

Permits and inspections in Salinas

The City of Salinas requires a permit for bathroom remodels that replace the tub or shower enclosure, relocate plumbing fixtures or cabinets, or add plumbing fixtures. Replacing a sink or toilet in the same spot does not need one, and plans are required if walls or fixtures are removed, added or moved.

Building permits are issued only to a licensed California contractor or the homeowner, so as a licensed contractor we handle the application and inspections. A permitted remodel also brings the bathroom up to current code, including ducted exhaust ventilation and, in homes built on or before January 1, 2017, water-efficient fixtures. Read the city's Residential Bathroom Remodel Guide, or our plain-language guide: do you need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Salinas? Homes in unincorporated areas are permitted by Monterey County.

Bathroom remodeling FAQs

Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Salinas?

According to the City of Salinas, a permit is required when a bathroom remodel replaces the tub or shower enclosure, relocates plumbing fixtures or cabinets, or adds plumbing fixtures. Replacing a sink or toilet in the same location does not need a permit. See the city's Residential Bathroom Remodel Guide.

Who pulls the permit?

The City of Salinas only issues building permits to a licensed California contractor or the homeowner. As a licensed contractor (CA #1090260), we can handle the permit application and inspections for your remodel.

Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?

Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of our most requested bathroom projects. Replacing the tub enclosure requires a permit in Salinas, which we take care of.

Will I have to upgrade other fixtures in my house?

Possibly. For homes built on or before January 1, 2017, the City of Salinas requires existing plumbing fixtures that do not meet current water-flow limits to be upgraded when a permit is issued. We check this during the estimate so there are no surprises.

Does my bathroom need an exhaust fan?

Under the codes the City of Salinas enforces, bathrooms with a tub or shower need mechanical ventilation ducted to the outside, even with an operable window. We install code-compliant fans as part of the remodel.

What is included in your estimate?

A written, itemized estimate with the scope of work, materials, pricing and timeline. No hidden fees and no surprises.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. Senior citizen and military discounts are available.

Do you work outside Salinas?
