What a kitchen remodel costs in the Salinas area
Every kitchen is different, so we do not quote a single price before we have seen your space. The cost comes down to how much of the kitchen changes:
- Cosmetic refresh. New countertops, backsplash, hardware, paint or lighting in the existing layout.
- Mid-range remodel. New cabinets, countertops, flooring and lighting, keeping sinks and appliances where they are.
- Full remodel. A new layout with walls, plumbing, gas or electrical moving, often with an island or more storage.
What drives the cost up
Moving the sink, range or walls; custom cabinetry; premium stone; structural changes; and older wiring or plumbing that has to be brought up to code once the walls are open.
What keeps the cost down
Keeping the existing layout, choosing stock cabinet sizes, and phasing the work.
What your estimate includes
Our estimate is written and itemized: scope of work, materials, pricing and timeline, line by line. No hidden fees, no surprises.
How long a kitchen remodel takes
Timing depends on the scope above and on a few things outside the job site: cabinet and countertop lead times, permit review when plumbing, electrical or walls change, and scheduled inspections. We put a realistic schedule in your written estimate, plan the order of work around your household, and keep you updated every day until the final walkthrough.
Permits and inspections in Salinas and Monterey County
Kitchen work that moves plumbing, adds circuits or changes walls needs a building permit. In the City of Salinas, building permits are issued only to a licensed California contractor or the homeowner, so as a licensed contractor we handle the application and inspections for you. Homes in unincorporated areas are permitted by Monterey County instead.
For homes built on or before January 1, 2017, a permitted remodel can also require existing plumbing fixtures that exceed current water-flow limits to be upgraded. We check for this during the estimate. Questions about city rules? See the City of Salinas Permit Services.
